RICHMOND,VA— The Virginia Funeral
Directors Association (VFDA) welcomes
the 2017-18 Board of Directors. The as-
sociation held its 129th Convention in
Williamsburg, June 25-28, 2017. The As-
sociation’s Inaugural Banquet and instal-
lation of officers took place on Tuesday,
June 27, 2017, where the association in-

troduced the new board members.
The 2017-18 President of the Virginia
Funeral Directors Association is Robert
“Bob” Gallagher. Gallagher is a funer-
al director at Fairfax Memorial Funeral
Home, in Fairfax. Gallagher graduated
from New England Institute of Applied Arts
and Sciences in Boston, MA and received
his funeral service license in the states of
Massachusetts, Virginia and the District of
Columbia. He has been a funeral director
of Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home for 14
years. Gallagher began his career at Cuffe-
McGinn Funeral Home, Lynn, MA then
with Weir Funeral Home, Malden, MA,
and Joseph Gawlers Sons Funeral Direc-
tors, Washington, DC, where he worked
for 10 years prior to coming to Fairfax.
