though it can be difficult
for some to understand
the importance of think-
ing about the process in
advance. “You plan for
a vacation, a wedding, a
bar mitzvah, quinceanera
or a birthday,” says Marc.
“It’s just as important to
plan a funeral. Why put
the burden of those de-
cisions on your fami-
ly? Planning eliminates
misunderstanding and
makes it much easier for
your loved ones.”
Marc recalls one family
who wanted a monument
in the shape of a tennis
racquet. “The deceased
family member was an
avid player throughout
life, so that’s how they
wanted him to be remem-
bered,” said Marc.
One family requested
a location overlooking
a lake in a park-like set-
ting, and staff found ex-
actly the right spot. An-
other wanted a private
mausoleum that would
accommodate eight peo-
ple. “We custom built
one exactly to order,”
Marc said.
