RUNNING A SUCCESSFUL
CREMATION SOCIETY
ly 90’s, the business was sold to
Wein-
stein Brothers
of Chicago. Up until
that point, the business was run by Lar-
rie
and his sons,
Ira
and
Michael.
A few years after the sale to Weinstein
Brothers, the company was acquired by
the
Loewen Group
which reorganized
to become
Alderwoods.
During the
Alderwoods operations, the
Rubin Zil-
bert Chapel
was merged with the Blas-
berg Chapel and formed
Blasberg Ru-
bin Zilbert
which was later acquired by
NorthStar Memorial Group.
Current-
ly Blasberg Rubin Zilbert is managed
by
Michael Blasberg, Murray Rubin,
and
Marc Scott Rubin.
Third generation funeral director and
pre-need counselor for
Levitt Wein-
stein Memorial Chapels & Cemeter-
ies,
Michael C. Blasberg earned his de-
gree at
Miami Dade College of Mortuary
Science
and began his career working
with his father, Larrie and brother, Ira
at Blasberg Funeral Chapel in Miami
Beach. Over the years, he has fulfilled
many different roles within the busi-
ness and now serves as the regional op-
erations manager.
During his 35 year professional ca-
reer, Blasberg is proud to have helped
many people in their time of need, in-
teracting with people of all generations.
He has a unique passion for what he
does; he is able to put himself totally
into what he is doing and always makes
himself available to those seeking his
help. Blasberg laughs with clients and
cries with clients, and though he never
gets used to what he does, if he stopped
doing either he feels it would be time
to stop being a funeral director. He

The Blas-
berg/Rubin family have
been providing funeral
services to the citizens of
Miami and its surround-
ing areas for almost 50
years. They have earned
the trust of the commu-
nity with their commit-
ment to excellent service
which is the corner-
stone on which they were
founded.
The Blasberg
Chapel
was built in 1965
by
Larrie S. Blasberg.

he likes to read at times to remind him
why he does what he does.
Murray Rubin, the chapel manager,
funeral director and pre-need counsel-
or, attended the University of Miami
and is a graduate of the
American Acad-
emy of Mortuary Science
in New York.
Rubin began his career in 1962 with
his late father-in-law,
Leonard Zilbert,
who was president of
Riverside Me-
morial Chapels of Florida,
which was
one of the largest funeral concerns in
the state of Florida at that time.
Rubin oversees at-need and pre-need
funeral arrangements and engages with
the local community. He enjoys serv-
ing the families he has the pleasure of
working with, and makes himself avail-
able to them at all times. To Rubin, this
is not a business but a calling; he could
not have found a business that he is
more suited for.
Marc Scott Rubin was born and raised
in the business; Rubin represents the
third generation of the company, and is
also a licensed funeral director and the
area sales director. Rubin oversees the
entire sales team from Dade to Palm
Beach County. In addition, he works
with families who are interested in pri-
vate family estates and mausoleums,
designing the majority of the granite
that is put into the cemeteries. Marc
takes great pride in helping families de-
sign their final tribute to themselves or
their loved ones, creating a final memo-
rial that they can be proud of.
