International Leadership Award Honoree Lady Madonna

Posted by Elleanor Davis Starks on May 1, 2014

The entrepreneurial spirit and diverse relations is alive and well in the City of Passaic, NJ because Lady Madonna stepped out on faith with a willing heart to serve a growing multinational community that was close to her heart.

Lady Madonna established the Madonna Multinational Funeral Home in 1985.  The 100 BWFS honoree attended the American Academy-McAllister Institute of New York City and was the recipient of the Thomas Quinn Award for Outstanding Achievement at her graduation. She later received her BS Degree from Montclair State College in New Jersey. She is actively involved in numerous community, civic, social, religious and political associations and endeavors. Madonna volunteers at many events and she always makes time for giving back to others through various philanthropic events. She is always on the A+ guest list and finds herself photographed with the likes of Maya Angelou, President Barack Obama, Hollywood stars and star athletes at any given time. It’s because she cares for others and she walks the walk and talks the talk to make it happen for others.

Madonna has held many positions related to her career in funeral service and the awards she has received over the years are a testament to a lady in charge of her own life. She has served in numerous position related to the funeral profession. She has been recognized as Funeral Service Woman of the Year, Outstanding Non-Traditional Funeral Establishment of the Year, Woman of Distinction, Trailblazer Award, Mortician of the Year and many more.

With pet loss being a big new issue in funeral service; she always thinks outside the box and also finds time for “Man’s Best Friend.” A few years ago she created an extension of caring through her Chewy Vuitton Pet Day Care Center.

If you ask Madonna what’s next, she will tell you she has no plans on slowing down or leaving her little multicultural melting pot of a town that has grown by leaps and bounds since she started her career in funeral service. The Hispanic population has doubled, the black population has decreased, the Asian population has doubled, and the Indian Temple keeps her busy with cremations and now everyone wants to be. Madonna says, “I brought this new dimension and word to town. At one time I did not need a Hispanic staff but today I am so proud of my Hispanic staff for their dedication, work ethic and love for my business. My shipping business is very elite and keeps us busy with loved ones being returned to Honduras, Mexico, Venezuela, Guatemala, Peru, Argentina, India, Caribbean, and Columbia.” As the chief embalmer in charge, Madonna makes sure that loved ones are returned with a smile on their face and receive the best of care for their long trip.
