This is just prior to the 2021 Na- tional Funeral Directors Association Internation- al Convention & Expo in Nashville, TN. This informative symposium is entitled Tissue Dona- tion: Solutions for the Embalmer and Licensed Funeral Professionals. Funeral professionals from across the United States will gather at the Tennessee Donor Servic- es headquarters to collab- orate on the important relationship between fu- neral service and donor services. Support from Funeral Directors helps families through the pain and grief of an emotional loss. When a positive at- titude about organ dona- tion is conveyed, it helps enable families to find comfort and meaning from the lifesaving and life-enhancing impact of their decision to donate. This symposium will be a day of learning that in- cludes a tissue recovery observation on a cadav- eric model; discussion/ examples of how tissue grafts provide life trans- formations to recipients. Vernie Fountain, CFSP is the keynote speaker and will offer practical solutions to embalming challenges following tis- sue donation for trans- plant.
