“Charlie” Nopper
, a li-
censed funeral director
and embalmer, was hired
to manage the business.
When Robert F. retired in
December 1987, Charlie
purchased all of the assets
of the funeral business. In
1989, the name officially
changed to
Nopper-Veh
Funeral Home and Mon-
uments
.
In 1957
Robert “Bob”
Karlovetz
and
Alfred “Al”
Dorfmeyer
founded the
first funeral home in the
Fremont area to be built
as a funeral home and not
converted from a house.
Bob bought out his part-
ner Al, in the 1960’s and
continued to run the busi-
ness on his own until his
son,
Thomas,
was dis-
charged from the Army
and came back to Fremont
to help him run the mor-
tuary. After Bob retired,
Tom became ill. During
this time his friend and
colleague Charlie Nopper
was there to help with the
business. Sadly, Tom died
of cancer in 1991. Bob
came out of retirement to
run the business until he
could settle Tom’s estate.
During this time, Charlie
continued to help with the
day-to-day operation of
the funeral home. In July
1993, Charlie Nopper was
able to purchase
Karlovetz
Mortuary, Inc
. The Fre-
mont location name was
changed to
Nopper-Kar-
lovetz Mortuary, Inc
. in
1994.
After working with Char-
lie for several years, funeral
director
Mark A. Herman
began planning for the fu-
ture. In 2002 funeral direc-
tor
Jason N. Kinn
, began
working with Mark and
Charlie. On May 15, 2003
Mark and Jason partnered
to purchase all assets of the
two funeral homes from
Charles F. Nopper.
