NFDA will also host an ac- tion-packed virtual scaven- ger hunt on April 8 during which attendees can win fantastic prizes. The Funeral Service Foun- dation is offering up to 150 scholarships to qualified ap- plicants to attend this year’s Virtual Professional Wom- en’s Conference. Funeral ser- vice professionals and stu- dents who identify as female or non-binary are eligible to apply for a scholarship, val- ued at up to $249. Candi- dates are required to answer two essay questions in no more than 250 words per question: Discuss how your role to serve families safe- ly and compassionately has evolved in the last year; and Your interest in this scholar- ship illustrates your drive to continually learn. While the conference may be virtual this year, NFDA’s innovative event platform will offer the ideal setting for funeral directors, educa- tors, students and suppliers to generate new ideas, fuel personal and professional growth, and connect with other funeral service profes- sionals. The Funeral Service Foundation is making the profession’s premier event for women more accessible than ever with 150 scholarships. ADVOCACY SUMMIT 2022 DATES ANNOUNCED Due to the unprecedent- ed, ongoing public health cri-sis caused by the Cov- id-19 pandemic, NFDA an- nounced the cancellation of its 2021 Advocacy Summit. The 2022 Advocacy Summit has been scheduled for May 4-6, 2022. “NFDA could not have ac- complished all we did last year without the support of members,” said CEO Chris- tine Pepper . “When we asked you to write to your members of Congress urging them to support the BRAVE Act and to contact the Na- tional Academy of Science, Engi-neering and Medicine about prioritizing funeral service professionals for the Covid vaccine, you stepped up and answered the call. Collectively, we have a stron- ger voice and we are look- ing forward to your contin- ued positive contributions to our advocacy efforts in Washington, DC. During the year, there will be many opportunities for you to roll your sleeves up and help ad- vocate on behalf of your cho- sen profession and those you serve.” “There is so much NFDA accomplished in the District of Columbia in 2020, from getting funeral service pro- fessionals designated as crit- ical infrastructure workers and included in Phase 1A of federal guidance for the Covid vaccine to the pas- sage of the BRAVE Act,” said NFDA senior vice president of advocacy Lesley Wit- ter . “Even though we will not gather for the Advoca- cy Summit, we will build on this momentum and contin- ue to advance the interests of the profession and the fami- lies you serve.” NFDA is the world’s lead- ing and largest funeral ser- vice association, serving more than 20,000 individ- ual members who represent nearly 11,000 funeral homes in the United States and 49 countries around the world.
