DAVID N. BROWN
of Coshocton, OH died October 4,
2014 at the age of 73. He sold chemicals in Ohio and
Kentucky for
The Dodge Company
of Cambridge, MA
for 43 years. He retired in 2011. After retirement, he re-
turned to
Given-Dawson Funeral Home,
working part
time. He graduated from the
New England Institute of
Embalming
in Boston, MA.
ROBERT CREAL SR
of St. Petersburg, FL died Sep-
tember 10, 2014 at the age of 88. He was the own-
er of
Creal Funeral Home.
He became president of
the
Florida Mortuary Association
in the late 70’s. He
later served on a governor-appointed board that over-
saw new funeral home regulations and organized state-
wide seminars to educate black funeral home direc-
tors about the changes. He also served as a mentor for
many funeral directors in the bay area, including
Rob-
ert Young
of
Young’s Funeral Home
in Clearwater,
who is handling his services. He dedicated 76 years of
service to the funeral industry.
WARREN J. FITZGERALD SR
of Cohoes, NY died Sep-
tember 28, 2014 at the age of 78. He was a licensed fu-
neral director and owner of the
Fitzgerald Funeral
Home,
which he established in 1963. He graduated from
Simmons Institute of Mortuary Science
in 1960 where he
received a scholarship given on competitive basis from
the
New York State Funeral Directors Association.
He was
licensed in 1961 after serving apprenticeships at
Kevlin-
Campbell Funeral Home
in Schenectady and
Campion
& Sons Funeral Home
in Albany.
HARRY DOUGLAS LEWIS JR
of Moorestown, NJ died
September 29, 2014 at the age of 78. In 1964, he pur-
chased
Lewis Funeral Home.
He also operated the
Medford location from 1980 until 1993. He was a
1957 graduate of the American Academy of Funeral
Service, and served his apprenticeship at the
Foster
Funeral Home
in Collingswood, NJ. Lewis retired in
2008. He was a member of the
New Jersey State Funer-
al Directors Association
and the
Burlington County Fu-
neral Directors Association
, serving as president from
1965 until 1966.
THE REV ANDREW JACKSON “A.J.” PARISH JR
of Fort
Smith, AR died October 3, 2014 at the age of 78. He op-
erated
Rowell-Parish Mortuary
and had served as Sebas-
tian County coroner for 18 years.
JAMES WALTER POLAND
of Conway, PA died October
1, 2014 at the age of 68. He was a funeral director and
embalmer for over 40 years. In 1974, he purchased the
McCabe Funeral Home
in Ambridge. In 1979, he add-
ed a second location in Conway, renaming it
Poland Fu-
neral Home Inc.
A graduate of the
Pittsburgh Institute of
Mortuary Science,
he was a member of the
Beaver-Law-
rence County Funeral Directors Association,
the
National
Funeral Directors Association
and the
Pennsylvania Funer-
al Directors Association,
where he served as a former dis-
trict governor.
STEPHEN A. SCILLIERI
of Paterson, NJ died September
29, 2014 at the age of 57. He was a licensed funeral direc-
tor and owner of the
Scillieri Funeral Home.
He grad-
uated from the
American Academy McAllister Institute of
Mortuary Science
in 1984.
ROBERT E. SISK
of Wallingford, CT and Naples, FL died
July 5, 2014 at the age of 69. He joined the family busi-
ness,
Sisk Brothers Funeral Homes
in New Haven, Ham-
den, East Haven and Branford, CT as a funeral director and
owner for many years. He was a member of the
Connecticut
Funeral Directors Association
and the
National Funeral Direc-
tors Association
and was also an Honorary Kentucky Colonel.
