Selected Independent Funeral Homes
Educational Trust
announced the selection of two new
members of its Board of Trustees who will replace two in-
dividuals in positions that were vacated at the end of their
term. The new trustees officially assumed their roles on
September 19, 2014, at the Educational Trust Annual
Gala at the Independence Seaport Museum, Penn’s Land-
ing, in Philadelphia. The event took place during the 96th
Annual Meeting of Selected Independent Funeral Homes.
Michael “Tripp” Carter
is one of Selected Funeral
Home’s newest trustees chosen by the Board of Directors.
Carter is co-founder, funeral director, crematory opera-
tor, and prearrangement counselor at Houston’s leading

Board Members

Prior to becoming a
funeral director, Carter worked in fund-
raising for Rice University, The Universi-
ty of Texas-Houston Health Science Cen-
ter, and The Menil Foundation. Carter is
eager to begin finding new ways to sup-
port the Trust’s growth and advancement
of education and funding.
“I am pleased and honored to have been
appointed to assist the Selected Education-
al Trust in its worthy mission to support
and advance lifelong learning of those who
work within independent funeral service,”
Carter said. “I hope to use my many years
of past fundraising experience for Houston
nonprofits to assist the Trust in reaching
out to educate, involve, and solicit poten-
tial new friends to help support the Trust’s
important activities in the advancement of
independent funeral service.”
Lawrence T. Schildmeyer, Sr.,
will also
be joining the Selected Board of Trust-
ees. Schildmeyer serves as the president
and chief financial officer of
Tufts Schil-
dmeyer Funeral Homes
in Loveland,
OH, where he has been a lifelong resi-
dent. Schildmeyer is licensed by the state
of Ohio as a funeral director and em-
balmer and is also licensed by the Ohio
Department of Insurance. Larry enjoys
watching high school basketball and as-
sists as a freshman basketball coach at
Loveland and is also a member of the
Good Shepherd Parish in Montgomery
and the Emery Lodge #258 F & AM.
Schildmeyer plans to lend his support to
the unique vision of the organization and
is pleased to be joining such a prestigious
Board of Trustees.

board member for the Selected Trust and
give back to a tremendous organization,”
said Schildmeyer. “The established vision
of the Selected Trust to focus on lifelong
learning and independent funeral service
clearly differentiates Selected from other
funeral organizations.”
The entire 2014 Board of Trustees in-
cludes
Alicia Carr, Steve Pierce, Cade
C. Williamson, Thomas R. Morris,
and
Robert J. Paterkiewicz,
Administrative
Trustee. New members Michael Carter
and Larry Schildmeyer are replacing
Jen-
nifer Bauer Eroh
and
Porter Loring III,
whose terms have ended.
The Selected Educational Trust was
founded by
Selected Independent Fu-
neral Homes,
a worldwide profession-
al association of independent, locally
owned funeral homes founded in 1917.
