The Look of Donation –
The Gift of Funeral Service Education Donors 2014
Each year a very giving and supportive group of funeral professionals receive mail from the 100 Black Women of Funeral Service asking for their support to help students who are in need and nearing
the completion of their funeral service education. More than one third of these funeral service heroes and corporate sponsors have been helping students financially for more than 20 years.
Others have come on board in the last decade because they know the importance of lending a helping hand.
We applaud all of them. So often all that is needed is a little help to get over that hurdle. The 100BWFS cannot begin to thank these special donors.
Through memorial scholarship donations honored family members live on…not only in their family and firms, but also in the lives of the funeral service students they help. Their loved ones are connected
to funeral service, not only in their former lives, but in the days long after they have left this earth.
“They were role models, leaders, mentors. They were community leaders and politically correct in all they gave. They cared about the funeral service career and wanted to make sure that our profession
gets the best of the best. Students who are dedicated and committed,” states 100BWFS President Dottie F. Hector, CFSP-CPC.
“When each student is interviewed the scholarship awards committee looks for these values as well as others like patience, a desire to serve, humility, compassion, honesty, being goal oriented,
having pride in their chosen profession and a great work ethic alongside the wisdom to understand other’s feelings at a time of need.”
The 100 BWFS honors our 2014 Memorial Scholarship Donors and their loved ones who are making a difference in our funeral profession year after year.
