It was easy to say ‘yes’ when given the opportunity to serve as a Trustee.” Scott Pridemore of Hippensteel Funeral Service and Crematory has renewed for a 3-year term. “When asked in 2017 to fill an open position on the Selected Trust board, I was both honored and excit- ed to help,” said Pridemore. “From my work on the board, I have dis- covered the importance of the Trust and how critical it is as our profes- sion continues to adapt to a chang- ing landscape of funeral service. The opportunities the Trust creates will lead to more qualified and better- educated individuals coming into funeral service.” The Educational Trust was found- ed by Selected Independent Funer- al Homes and is incorporated as a 501(c)(3) Charitable Organization that provides support to the entire independent funeral home profes- sion. We are dedicated to funding the development and administra- tion of scholarships, research ini- tiatives, educational programs and other assistance offerings to pro- mote life-long learning for all who work within, and in support of, in- dependent funeral service. The Edu- cational Trust was established by Se- lected Independent Funeral Homes in 1982, but membership in Select- ed is not required to obtain assis- tance or provide a donation.
