We encouraged state residents to take a few minutes of their time and come donate an item that meant so much to an- other Connecticut family.” All gift cards, unwrapped toys and funds collected by the Connecticut Funeral Di- rectors Association were delivered directly to Operation ELF, which assists the families of Connecticut National Guard soldiers and airmen who are deployed during the holi- days, and provided a wide range of support to military families throughout the year. The 129-year-old Connecticut Funeral Directors Association is comprised of fu- neral directors at more than 220 funeral homes. For more information about the Connecticut Funeral Directors Associa- tion or its Operation ELF collection drive, call 860-721-0234 or 800-919-2332, or visit www.ctfda.org or Connecticut Fu- neral Directors Association on Facebook. During the closing ses- sion, three-time Super Bowl-winning quarter- back Troy Aikman was in- terviewed by local Boston sportscaster Trey Daerr and shared how attendees can develop their inner cham- pion. Honoring the Christian and Jewish Funeral Traditions A highlight of the 2017 NFDA Convention was the Service of Remembrance, which explored the rich and timeless funeral traditions of the Christian, Orthodox, Catholic and Jewish faiths. As is NFDA’s custom, the Service of Remembrance was also a time for attend- ees to remember and honor the memory of colleagues and family members who died during the last year. Giving Hearts On Saturday, October 28, NFDA volunteers shared their time and talents with Habitat for Humanity of Boston. 12 volunteers helped at a home being built in Dorchester, MA for a family with two young children.
