Caregivers, in general, are lovely and honest people. Their hearts are true, and they love serving people and providing comfort. However, there are funeral sharks who disguise themselves as caregivers to win your trust. I have seen it happen many times, and the outcomes are tragic and sad. I have even seen funeral sharks trick patients into signing their life insurance policies over to them. The usual promise is that the funeral shark is the only person who can be trusted to ensure that the patient’s wishes are followed for funeralization and disbursement of funds. In every case I have seen, the funeral shark takes the money and runs, leaving the actual beneficiaries holding the funeral bills, mortgages, and payments due without allocated funds. This is a tragic reality in the world in which we live. It is heartbreaking to see families evicted from the family estate by a funeral shark or lose family heirlooms to someone who has no sentimental ties to generational gifts. I hope that such dishonest people do not victimize you. I hope that if a funeral shark comes your way, you are able to recognize them before it is too late.
