He joined his father and uncle in the Jeweled Cross Company in North Attleboro, and later became president and sole operator until retire- ment. CAROL JEAN CODY “BELOVED AC” of Lawton, OK died October 13, 2020 at the age of 52. A graduate of the Dallas Institute of Mortu- ary Science, she was a funeral director at Comanche Nation Funeral Home. CLIFFORDANDREW“ANDY” CRANDALL II of Mauston, WI died October 15, 2020 at the age of 72. A graduate of the Minne- apolis School of Mortuary Science, he joined his family business as a third-generation funeral director and owner of Crandall Funer- al Home, Inc. He worked with that business until health issues required his retirement. WILLIE LEE GRANGER of Muskogee, TX died Novem- ber 3, 2020 at the age of 74. A licensed funeral director and embalmer, he operated Grang- er Funeral Home and Eve- ning Spring Funeral Chapel until his retirement. Granger graduated from the Dallas In- stitute of Mortuary Science in 1978. HARRISON BRADLEY JOHNSON JR of El Paso, TX died October 15, 2020 at the age of 65. He worked as a li- censed funeral director, mor- tician and embalmer for over 40 years, having spent the last five years at Perches Funer- al Home. Johnson graduated from the Dallas Institute of Fu- neral Service. JESSEE JAMES “JESS” JOHNSON JR of Castlewood, VA died October 8, 2020 at the age of 76. A funeral director since 1970, he began working part-time at Huff-Cook Funer- al Home in St. Paul in 1964. In 1965, he worked full time for the funeral home, where he re- mained until the end of 1990. PERNEL JONES SR of Cleveland, OH died Octo- ber 6, 2020 at the age of 79. He began his career as a funeral director working alongside his brother, Mar- shall W. Jones Jr, at the Marshall W. Jones Jr Funer- al Home in Baltimore. In 1973, he established the Pernel Jones Funeral Home in Cleveland, renaming it The Pernel Jones & Sons Funeral Home in 1998 after his two sons joined the business. Jones graduat- ed from Temple University’s Echols College of Mortuary Science and was a member of the Ohio Board of Em- balmers and Funeral Directors and the Ohio Funeral Directors Association. DONALD VINCENT KUMIN of Delray Beach, FL formerly of Cleveland, OH, died Octo- ber 22, 2020 at the age of 91. A graduate of the Cleveland In- stitute of Mortuary Science, he was a funeral director for over 50 years and was the founder of Berkowitz-Kumin Memo- rial Chapel in Cleveland. KENNETH “KENNY” LEE WEAVER of Houston, MS died October 27, 2020 at the age of 65. He worked at Hous- ton Funeral Home since 2005 as a funeral director and li- censed insurance agent. THEODORE JOHN WIGGER of Napa, CA died October 22, 2020 at the age of 70. He joined his family’s firm, Treadway and Wigger Funer- al Chapel as a licensed funer- al director. His brother, Hen- ry “Bud” Wigger Jr, also a licensed funeral director, died October 24, 2020. DAVID ANTHONY “TONY” KARSNIA of East Bethel, MN died November 2, 2020 at the age of 49. He worked for Unit- ed Coach and Johnson-Williams Funeral Car Service in Minne- apolis for several years before be- coming the business manager of Spielman Mortuary in St. Paul. In 2013, Tony earned his Bache- lor of Science degree with a ma- jor in mortuary science from the University of Minnesota. Since then, he has been employed as a licensed mortician with Thurston-Lindberg-DeShaw Funeral Homes of Anoka and Andover. Tony joined The Professional Car Society in 1986. He founded the Northland Chapter while he was a senior in high school and was sub- sequently involved in the formation of two additional chap- ters. Tony hosted three international meets and countless regional meets, served as president from 2014 to 2020 and was the first president in the Society’s forty-year history to be elected to three consecutive terms. He was also selected as a third caretaker of the very last Cadillac ambulance built, a 1979 Superior Cadillac, which is a historically significant vehicle that currently remains in the Karsnia Collection. JOHN C. “SKEEPIE” SCARBOROUGH III of Durham, NC died Novem- ber 7, 2020 at the age of 83. A fourth-generation funeral director for over 60 years, he was CEO and president of the Scarborough & Hargett Cel- ebration of Life Center, Inc . A graduate of the Eckels Col- lege of Mortuary Science, he was president of the National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association in 1982 and in 1968, he became the youngest individual ever elected as “Lay Member” by the association. Skeepie was the first African American to serve on the State of North Carolina Ambulance Board. DAVID CALLOWAY ROSS JR of Montgomery, AL died Oc- tober 14, 2020 at the age of 72. A licensed funeral director and embalmer, he was presi- dent of the Ross-Clayton Fu- neral Home. A graduate of the Gupton-Jones College of Mor- tuary Science, he served two terms on the Alabama Board of Funeral Service and was a member of the National Funeral Directors and Morti- cians Association, Alabama Funeral Directors and Mor- ticians Association and the Epsilon nu Delta Mortuary Fraternity, Inc.
