On to Music City Planning is already underway for the 2021 NFDA In- ternational Convention & Expo, which will take place October 17 through 20 in Nashville, TN. “We’re hopeful we will be able to reunite in person for the 2021 NFDA Convention in Nashville,” said Hight- ower. “I have very fond memories of our last convention in Music City and I know that next year’s event will be even better! AUSTIN,TX— Follow- ing elections at the recent 134th annual Texas Funer- al Directors Association convention, the follow- ing officers were installed to serve during the 2020- 2021 term. New officers are Presi- dent Troy Murray, Gilmer; President-Elect Jimmie Lu- cas, Fort Worth; Secretary- Treasurer Blu Broussard, Beaumont; and Immediate Past-President Gene Allen of Kerrville. Gary Shaffer of San Angelo, a past-pres- ident of TFDA, was named Director-at-Large. The new officers were installed by Robby Bates of DeKalb. A past pres- ident of TFDA, Bates has also served as president of the National Funeral Directors Association. TFDA represents more than 3,000 li- censed funeral directors in Texas as an affiliate association of NFDA and sup- ports the state’s five colleges of mortu- ary science, including Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science, Commonwealth Insti- tute of Funeral Service in Houston, San Antonio College , Northeast Texas Com- munity College , and Amarillo College . Founded in 1886, TFDA members follow a strict Code of Ethics, par- ticipate in community outreach and complete ongoing continuing edu- cation in vital statistics, ethics, new technology and other topics related to their profession.
