SCI announces Third Quarter Financial Results AM Best Affirms Funeral Directors Life’s Financial Strength Rating of A- (Excellent) ABILENE,TX—Funeral Directors Life Insurance Compa- ny (FDLIC) and its subsidiary, Kentucky Funeral Directors Life (KFDLIC), recently had its Best’s Financial Strength Rat- ing (FSR) of A- (Excellent) affirmed with a “stable” outlook by AM Best, a full-service credit rating agency for the insurance industry. This rating affirmation on October 8, 2020 marks the 14th consecutive year that FDLIC has received this rating. “We are incredibly proud to have our FSR rated A- (Excel- lent) by AM Best for another year in a row, particularly in a year of disruption caused by COVID-19,” said Kris Seale, president and CEO of Funeral Directors Life. “Our customers and policyholders are essential, and we are committed to pro- viding them with the best, most-respected service, every day.” AM Best analyzes an insurer’s financial strength and abili- ty to meet its ongoing insurance policy and contract obliga- tions. Best’s credit ratings are based on a comprehensive quan- titative and qualitative evaluation of a company’s balance sheet strength, operating performance, enterprise risk management, and business profile. “Funeral Directors Life’s capital and surplus position has in- creased steadily in recent years,” reported AM Best. “FDLIC’s asset/liability management (ALM) program is strong, allow- ing the company to benefit from a good combination between predictable liability cash flows and investing in longer-term as- sets. FDLIC has no financial or reinsurance leverage, contrib- uting to a very strong balance sheet.” “Beyond preneed, Funeral Directors Life also provides cus- tomers with other value-added services such as mortgage lend- ing and marketing services,” AM Best added. “The company benefits from good market share in the industry and extensive expertise in the funeral home business.” “Excellence at every level of our company is important,” con- tinued Seale. “While we take a conservative approach to in- vesting assets, we take a progressive and innovative approach to creating valuable services that help our clients grow and suc- ceed in a rapidly changing marketplace. We’re honored that AM Best recognizes our commitment to doing what is best for our clients, policyholders, and for our industry as a whole.” Funeral Directors Life, which has a Best’s Financial Strength Rating of A- (Excellent), is a legal reserve life insurance company which specializes in the sale of insurance-funded preneed funer- als. Funeral Directors Life is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Di- rectors Investment Group (DIG). For more information about Funeral Directors Life, visit www.funeraldirectorslife.com.
