Page B6 OCTOBER 2021 FUNERAL HOME & CEMETERY NEWS Se c t i on B I am very excited about attending the NFDA Con- vention and Expo this month. I will be there on Mon- day, October 18, in the Nomis Publications booth, which is number 1502. However, the main reason I like to go to the convention, besides seeing old friends and making new ones, is to talk with the various car and body companies exhibiting at the Expo. So, find- ing me at the booth may be hit and miss. To me this is an exciting time to be associated with the automobile industry. I can’t say I really understand all or any of what he tells me, but he understands it and that’s enough for me. Neither of us have either an electric or hybrid ve- hicle, for now. I don’t expect to ever have either type, but I think for anyone in their 40s and younger, it is in their future. I grew up driving manual transmission, in the muscle car era when cars had a big V8 with a 4-on-the-floor. Dan has been drawn to manual transmissions too, and except for his new truck, has always had one. Speaking of trucks, the last time Ford offered a manual transmis- sion in the very popular F-150 was 2008 and that had to be paired with the less than popular 4.2L V6. The last F-150 with a stick and a V8 was 2003, almost 20 years ago. Finding a manual transmission these days is like finding small electronic equipment not made in China. On that note, as I understand, electric cars have a single speed transmission. I guess a manual transmis- sion is out of the question. Something most every true car enthusiast will miss. Sorry, kind of got off the subject. Anyway, if you plan on attending the NFDA Convention, please stop by and see me. tinct. More vehicles are going full electric or hybrid. New car companies featuring full electric vehicles are popping up everywhere. And the styling for some of the new elec- tric car models is ultra-modern and just darn cool . Show- ing my age here, “cool” probably hasn’t been used since bell bottoms and miniskirts. I have become a fan of electric vehicles, and not because of any environmental concerns. No, I have changed be- cause of my son, Dan, who is an engineer. He has ex- plained the efficiencies of the electric models and the in- National Funeral Directors Association 2021 Convention & Expo Mike Jamar is founder and co-owner of Advanced Integration Technology.
