Scott WETHERSFIELD,CT— We are tremendously saddened by the unexpected death of our friend and fellow fu- neral director, Alexander J. Scott, CFSP, CPC, CCSP, the beloved 2020 President of the Connecticut Funer- al Directors Association (CFDA). Alex died on the morning of June 29th. CFDA’s Immediate Past President Edward F. Sheehy , Jr., a Shelton funeral director, will fulfill the remain- der of his friend’s one-year term as President through December 31, 2020. Alex was a vibrant mem- ber of our profession and our association, whose compassion and sense of humor endeared him to his peers. He enjoyed 25 years in funeral ser- vice and funeral home management in Conn., Mass., and New York. As a licensed funeral director/ embalmer and the Direc- Alex’s caring nature and professionalism were especial- ly evident over the past few months during the Coro- navirus. He tirelessly served the families and friends of those who tragically lost their lives while, on behalf of CFDA, worked with Connecticut media, helping them to educate about the limitations of funeral service dur- ing the pandemic, while still providing meaningful send-offs for the deceased.
