Williams served as president of Ivey Brothers Funeral Home in Atlanta, GA until he and his wife, Carol Thomas Williams purchased the business These women stand out! Williams Carol Thomas Williams and Chante Williams-Blackwell Carol Thomas Williams and Chante Williams-Blackwell in 1994, renaming it Ivey-Williams Funeral Home. In 1995 the business was renamed Carl M. Williams Funeral Directors, Inc. An author and public speaker, Carol Thomas Williams is also a licensed funeral director and embalmer in the states of Georgia and South Carolina. She is a certified funeral service manager, Certified Funeral Service Practitioner, Certified Preneed Counselor and has a Crematory Operations Certificate program. Carol was an instructor at Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Science, where her Associates degree was earned and now serves as the executive director for the National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association Inc. Chante Williams-Blackwell is the middle child and only daughter of Carl and Carol Williams. In 2018, she began her funeral service apprenticeship under the guidance of her mother, and later enrolled in mortuary science program at Jefferson State. Although she is no longer at Jefferson State, she continues to work on her apprenticeship and plans to go back to school within the next year. Williams-Blackwell continues to seek knowledge about the funeral industry and long with her brothers, Carlos and Aaron look forward to growing and developing her family’s business and its legacy.
