Within physical distancing requirements, the CANA Convention will feel like the familiar place where death care professionals gather to learn, network, and catch up with innovative solutions from exhibitors. WHAT TO EXPECT AT THIS YEAR’S EVENT News Association ContinueD WHEELING,IL— The Cremation Association of North America (CANA) is proud to honor active and veteran military service members with discounted reg- istration on its Crematory Operations Certification Programs. As cremation rates continue to climb, capable crema- tory operators are more valuable than ever. Since cre- mation operations is an entry point for many to the funeral service profes- sion, CANA’s discount is a valuable effort to sup- port both the industry and the men and women who have served our country. CANA was inspired by the launch of the new ini- tiative, Journey to Serve, to make death care more accessible to service mem- bers transitioning to new career paths. Now, CANA is mak- ing that career transition a little easier by offering discounted registration for the Cremation Asso- ciation of North Ameri- ca Crematory Operations Certification Program™ (CANA COCP™) for all military service members. But this is not limited to United States military—members and veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces can receive the same discount. Plus, membership with CANA is not a requirement to take advantage of this special pricing. The first to take advantage of the new initiative, one non-member in Tucson, AZ was grateful to the asso- ciation for this steep discount, saying “Thank you so much, this really helps us.” Now, more businesses can benefit from the commitment of service members and the expertise of CANA’s Crematory Operations Pro- gram. The CANA COCP meets the certification re- quirement of 19 states and also fulfills CE obligations in many states and provinces. This discount applies to both the original Cremato- ry Operations Certification Program (COCP) as well as the new COCP+AH program that provides specialized instruction on flame cremation and alkaline hydrolysis. Participants can earn their certification in-person at an upcoming training or online and on-demand—either way, registrants experience a lively and fun mix of expert lecture, technology, animation, and interactive exercises! Founded in 1913, the Cremation Association of North America (CANA) is an international organi- zation of over 3,300 members, composed of funeral homes, cemeteries, crematories, industry suppliers, and consultants. CANA members believe that crema- tion is preparation for memorialization.
