For Funeral Directors, the meaning of death is service. It is our responsibility to take the mystery out of it and help those who are overwhelmed with emotions. Those in the new genera- tion of Living Legends have lifted the spirits of millions of families through their educa- tion, training, service, profes- sionalism and compassion. Their leadership and success have broken down barriers and made them trailblazers, mentors and role models to many funeral colleagues. L evett & S ons F uneral H ome Scottsdale, Georgia Family owned and operated since 1980, Gregory B. Levett & Sons Funeral Home Inc in Scottsdale, GA was established by Greg Levett, Sr, an Atlanta College of Mor- tuary Science graduate, and his wife Bet- ty, a Gupton Jones College of Funeral Service graduate. In 2000, they established a sec- ond location in Decatur, GA. A third lo- cation was added in the South Gwinnett area in 2004 and in 2009 a location in Buford, GA was opened, which was later sold. Their acquisition of Cremation Care of Georgia in 2015 has allowed them to service the Metropolitan Atlanta area for over 35 years with the best customer ser- vice, dignity and professionalism. They have created a legacy of children who work in the business. T. Lanier and Deana Levett, also graduates of the Gupton Jones College of Funeral Service, serves on the management team. Lanier’s wife, Dana, is a licensed funeral director. Her grandparents, Daniel and Grace Young opened Young Funeral Home in 1938, followed by a sec- ond location in Covington in 1961. Upon Daniel’s death in 1988, Grace continued to own and operate the business alongside her daughter, Ariel Young, who retired in 2013. Lanier and Dana Levett know a thing or two about celebrating family and honor- ing the past. With their purchase of Young Funeral Home and its two locations in Covington and Monroe, the Levett’s have become the new owners of Young-Levett Funeral Home. Congratulations to the Gregory B. Le- vett and Sons Funeral Home and Young- Levett Funeral Home family for their col- orful history that spans seventy-nine years and three generations. Joseph B. F. Cutchins Jr Joe Jr and Tre Cutchins C utchins F amily M ortuary & C remations Franklinton, North Carolina Legacy Presidential Award Honoree Cutchins Family Mor- tuary & Cremations was founded by the late Joseph BF Cutchins, Sr in 1938. After his death in 1976, his wife, Sadie Fogg Cutchins assumed ownership. Their son, Joseph “Joe” B.F. Cutchins, Jr, a licensed fu- neral director since 1973 and graduate of the St. Au- gustine’s University in Ra- leigh, NC, joined the firm in 1990. He is the past pres- ident and chairman of the board of the Funeral Direc- tors and Morticians Associa- tion of North Carolina, Inc and the National Funeral Directors and Morticians As- sociation, Inc. Upon the re- tirement of Sadie in 1991, Joe assumed ownership of Cutchins Family Mortuary and Cremations and contin- ues to carry the family funer- al torch with his son, Joseph “Tre” Cutchins, III, a 2 016 graduate of the Fayetteville Technical Community College and third generation funeral director. Tre currently serves as the chief operating officer of the funeral home. Congratulations to Cutchins Family Mortuary and Cremations for being a 2021-2022 100BWFS Leg- acy Presidential Award hon- oree and for celebrating their eighty-third anniversary.
