The lounge design al- lows families to care for themselves, even while greeting their guests. Initially, the family lived in the apartment above the funeral home but have since moved. However, Knollcrest remains a part of their lives. “This isn’t merely a funeral home; this is our home,” says Bob. “Our family raised our children here. Our parents lived here. And to this day, some part of our family continues to live here.” Today, the staff of Knoll- crest exceeds 30 people and includes two of Bob and Elaine’s five children. Holly Stammis works in the office, and Joshua achieved his professional license as Licensed Em- balmer and Funeral Di- rector. The Knollcrest family is happy to join with Steuer- le Funeral Home to in- crease their service area and continue to serve and assist families in their time of need. “Hank and his extraor- dinary staff have provided an outstanding standard of service to the commu- nities of Villa Park, Lom- bard, Oakbrook Terrace, Elmhurst and others,” Bob says. “It is our intention to continue the 70-year- old legacy of goodwill and great service to the fami- lies Steuerle’s has so ably served.” He adds, “The Knollcrest Family main- tains values perfectly aligned with that high lev- el of service.” The family plans to mod- ernize the furnishings and decor of Steuerle Funeral Home as well as updat- ing the digital footprint. They want to integrate their system and staff into the funeral home and the community. Knollcrest itself is going through a massive remod- eling of the funeral home. It is an uplifting, mod- ern place with bright sun- light and beautiful mod- ern furniture. Elaine, an art major with an impec- cable ability for interi- or decorating, is working on Knollcrest’s current remodeling. This mas- sive endeavor will reflect a modern style comple- mented by the bright sun- light throughout.
