He worked as a funeral director in the Detroit area before moving to Pigeon in 1969 and purchasing the Shetler Funeral Home. Bussema owned and operated the Shetler-Bussema Funeral Home until his retirement in 1989. He graduated from the Wayne State University Department of Mortuary Science in 1952 WILLIAM HAROLD “W.H” FREDLOCK, IV of Swanton, MD died October 23, 2022 at the age of 57. A funeral director, W.H. worked for the family business, Fredlock Funeral Home in Piedmont and also helped Dean Nofsinger at Markwood Funeral Home in Keyser, WV. BRUCE C. REDMON of Stow, OH died November 1, 2022 at the age of 82. He established Redmon Funeral Home in 1968 alongside his wife, LouAnn. A 1961 graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, he was a member of the Ohio Funeral Directors Association, National Funeral Directors Association, and was a past president of the Summit County Funeral Directors Association. DONALD RAY WAREHIME of Dublin, OH died October 17, 2022 at the age of 78. A funeral director for over thirty years, he owned and operated Emerson-NewkirkWarehime Funeral Home in Kikersville alongside his wife, Judy. He finished his funeral service career as a preneed specialist in the Dayton and Columbus areas. A 1974 graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, he was a member of the Ohio Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association. A graduate of the Simmons School of Mortuary Science, Hinchcliff was a member of the Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association, National Funeral Directors Association and the Luzerne County Funeral Directors Association. DANIEL M. HINCHCLIFF of Shickshinny, PA died September 2, 2022 at the age of 63. He was a funeral director at Mayo Funeral Home in Berwick from phenville and purchased the Trewitt-Reed Funeral Home. Lacy owned and operated the Lacy Funeral Home until his retirement in 2002. He graduated from mortuary school in Houston in 1953 and was a member of the West Texas Funeral Directors Association and the Texas Funeral Directors Association, where he served as a past president. LYLE EUGENE LACY of Stephenville, TX died October 1, 2022 at the age of 89. A licensed funeral director and embalmer since 1955, he worked at funeral homes in the Amarillo area until 1971 when he moved to SteDonaldson Funeral Home in Massena, Hogansburg and the surrounding areas for sixty-three years. He retired in 2018. A 1955 graduate of the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service, he was a member of the St. Lawrence County Funeral Directors Association, serving several offices and was their secretary for numerous years. BRUCE P. BOMBARD of Monroe Parkway, NY died October 26, 2022 at the age of 87. A New York funeral director, he served his apprenticeship with the Fairchild and Sons Funeral Home in Brooklyn and worked at the Kirshenbaum Brothers Funeral Home also in Brooklyn. Bombard worked at the al Funeral Directors Association, past president of the North Carolina Funeral Directors Association and the North Carolina Board of Funeral Service, a member of the Cemetery Funds of North Carolina, serving with the International Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards. Leavitt mentored many aspiring funeral directors through his career in funeral service. HARVEY HAMILTON LEAVITT, III of Wadesboro, NC died October 31, 2022 at the age of 63. He joined his father in the family business, Leavitt Funeral Home, which was founded by his grandfather, Harvey H. Leavitt in 1914. A 1982 graduate of the Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service, he was a member of the Nationlen Funeral Homes in Casey, Adair, Anita and Atlantic. Mullen previously worked at Larkin Funeral Home in Sioux City, Goettsch Funeral Home in Monticello, Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home in Marshalltown, and McBride Funeral Home in Dyersville. He graduated with a degree in mortuary science from the University of Minnesota. JOE VINCENT MULLEN of Casey, IA died November 6, 2022 at the age of 80. A licensed funeral director for fifty years, he and his wife, Yvonne co-owned Mulator of Newman Services, Inc., memorial division. In 1996, he was the founding partner in the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., with several locations on the Eastern Shore and Annapolis. A graduate of the Eckels College of Mortuary Science, he served as cemeterian for the Oxford Cemetery, retiring in 2018 after thirty years of service. MAURICE E. “MIKE” NEWNAM III of Easton, MD died October 11, 2022 at the age of 89. A retired funeral director for fifty years, he joined his family’s business, Maurice E. Newnam & Son. Mike took over the ownership in 1970, operating it as Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. During this time, he owned and operated funeral homes in Easton, St. Michaels, Sharptown, Centerville and Queenstown.
