Rollings Funeral Service Honored with Commendation from Georgia Governor PEACHTREE CITY,GA— Rollings Funeral Service is excited to announce their recent receipt of a commendation from Georgia Governor Brian Kemp in recognition of their 20 years of service. The commendation was presented to Greg and Debbie Rollings at their Annual Managers’ Meeting in August. The honor came as a surprise to CEO of Rollings Funeral Service Greg Rollings and his wife Debbie. “Debbie and I had no idea this was in the works for our company. Needless to say, it’s one of the biggest honors of my entire career and is a firm testament to the team I have working with me and the dedication we have all had to this company for the past 20 years,” said Rollings. “I truly can’t thank everyone enough for the hard work in helping Debbie and I get Rollings Funeral Service to where it is today and to have that recognized by our governor is just incredible,” Rollings also noted. At the time of its presentation, Governor Brian Kemp commended Rollings Funeral Service for building the company over the past 20 years to include over 74 funeral homes, 11 independent crematories, and four cemeteries that span 16 states and employ over 600 people. The commendation was a collaboration between the leadership team at Rollings They also pride themselves on being a great alternative to selling to a publicly traded company and they continue to search for firms that will be a great fit to their growing family of funeral homes. Lutheran Cemetery The family of Benjamin Bosse erected a memorial to his memory on the site where he is buried. The obelisk sits in the middle of the plots that he reserved for the Bosse family. It is simply inscribed with the family name of Bosse. In 1924, a nephew of Benjamin was tragically killed. To honor his memory, his father paid off the loan the church had on the sextons’ house and erected a plaque in his honor. Thirty years later, as society was changing, the association stopped using a sexton and sold the property. The plaque went missing. Some 60 years after that, a church member was jogging while vacationing in Destin, FL and noticed a plaque laying in a yard. To his amazement, he saw that the inscription mentioned Trinity Lutheran Church of Evansville and the Lutheran Cemetery. The owner of the plaque had purchased it many years prior at an antique shop and kept it even as he moved residences seven times! The rededication ceremony not only saw the plaque returned after almost 97 years, but also paid homage to the Bosse family’s influence and impact on the Evansville community. The Lutheran Cemetery is relatively small by some standards but boasts a rich historical part of Evansville and is justly proud of its residents.
