The 2014 Robert H. Miller Professional of the Year
Award was presented to
Chester Cary, II
, CFSP on Tues-
day, August 5. Mr. Cary, of
Lott’s Mortuary
in Dallas, is
a life member of the National Funeral Directors & Mor-
ticians Association, Inc. and State Secretary for the
Inde-
pendent Funeral Directors Association of Texas, Inc
. The cele-
bratory evening was commemorated by 800 members and
friends of the association with entertainment by national
recording artists, Vickie Winans and Kellee Johnson.
An over the top exposition hall was presented on Tues-
day, August 5 andWednesday, August 6. The expo opened
with the traditional ribbon cutting ceremony and greet-
ings from the NFDMA Executive Committee. Attendees
enjoyed a two-day showcase of our industry’s best prod-
ucts and services. Special thanks to the many exhibitors
and sponsors, especially the 23 new exhibitors. The sen-
timent was that the expo was second to none and a com-
plete success. Exhibitors raved about the excitement and
attendance in the exhibit hall. The vendors said that the

The 78th Annual Nation-
al Convention and Expo-
sition will be held in St.
Louis, MO at the Renais-
sance St. Louis Grand &
America’s Center, August
1-6, 2015. The associa-
tion will convene with this
thought in mind, “Striving
for Excellence with A New
Beginning!”

cer awareness. The ladies

because cancer affects ev-
eryone. Batesville’s

was a perfect
host for this favorite con-
vention hall event. Follow-
ing the party, the African
American History Mu-
seum was the site of Live
with Golden Gate “Ask
the Undertaker Show.”

to talk about Restorative
Art. It was a fantastic ses-
sion. At the conclusion of
the show, The Porter Law
Firm of Florida raffled off
a classic 1962 Hearse Rep-
lica, which held its own
casket and set of church
trucks. The prize ended
up in the hands of
Mary
Frances White
of North
Carolina thanks to her
granddaughter.
