Each episode includes a thoughtful visual exploration of one of the world’s greatest cemeteries, along with dramatized re-enactments of pivotal moments in the life of a historical individual buried at the site.” World’s Greatest Cemeteries shines a light on famous, forgotten and never-well-known individuals. This series uniquely shows the breadth and resilience of powerful ideas – even when those ideas are promulgated by people otherwise denied the right to be heard. I read through the highlights for the season one episodes, and their scope is international. It should be very interesting and I am looking forward to seeing the episode on Cave Hill. World’s Greatest Cemeteries is available through your local PBS station or at www.pbs.org. The second season is scheduled to premiere Fall 2022. N o m i s P u b l i c a t i o n s . c o m Monthly Columnsonline at Recently I visited some friends in Louisville, Kentucky. I was not familiar with Louisville, and had no great expectations. Since I am not writing a travel column, all I will say is, I was very surprised at all the city offers. While catching up with my friends, I mentioned being in Savannah last year. I elaborated on the wonderful things it offered, which included an incredible cemetery. My friend’s eyes lit up: they too had an incredible cemetery in Louisville. I humored him, thinking it was probably a nice older cemetery, but nothing out of the ordinary. He saw through that, and off we went to visit Cave Hill Cemetery. I had low expectations, but since I like cemeteries, I was all in for the adventure. I was absolutely wrong in my expectations. Cave Hill is an incredible cemetery, rivaling every cemetery I have ever seen. It was started in 1848 and the elaborate monuments and mausoleums are outstanding. There is so much history. Muhammad Ali, Revolutionary War hero George Rogers Clark, Suffragist Susan Look Avery and KFC founder Colonel Sanders are all buried there, just to name a few. A few weeks after my visit, my friend emailed me an article about the PBS Documentary World’s Greatest Cemeteries. First, I had no idea there was such a show and second, they are including the Cave Hill Cemetery in their upcoming second season. The synopsis for the show reads like this: “World’s Greatest Cemeteries highlights hidden gems using actors, forensic scientists, historians and even horticulturists to share true stories of romance, war, espionage and PBS Documentary: World’s Greatest Cemeteries Featured Vehicles from HearseHub.com F o r C o n t a c t I n f o r m a t i o n v i s i t w w w .
