The NJSFDA Executive Committee said the decision was made because of sever- al factors, including speaker and vendor travel concerns. There were also concerns about the ability of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in At- lantic City, where the conven- tion was to be held, to ensure proper spacing at group events and the continued increase in workloads for funeral homes. The NJSFDA has held its annual convention despite natural disasters, labor strikes and terrorist attacks, but the coronavirus presented a sig- nificant public health hazard to any participants. Cancelling the convention, the executive committee be- lieved, was the most prudent decision to make. “We trust that by next year, we will have overcome the uncertainties of this virus and that the current economy will have improved, so that we can once again meet and socialize with our colleagues, friends and acquaintances,” the NJSFDA wrote in an emailed communication to members and vendors. The NJSFDA has scheduled its next convention for Sep- tember 21 to 23, 2021 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City.
