Catholic Cemetery Conference Cancels Convention HILLSIDE,IL— In a recent letter, Richard Peterson, Pres- ident of the Catholic Cemetery Conference announced the cancellation of the 2020 convention. Given the chal- lenges and concerns resulting from the COVID-19 pan- demic, the concerns of many of members regarding trav- el restrictions and moratoriums, financial setbacks, and health and safety all contributed to the decision to cancel the 71st Annual Convention scheduled for New Orleans. Dave LaBarre, Executive Director has been in regular communication with the Hilton New Orleans Riverside Hotel over the past several months. CCC is re-scheduling the convention in New Orleans for 2023. The board is most grateful to the host Archdiocese of New Orleans for their generosity, courtesy and understanding. The board also extended its gratitude to the members of the 2020 Program Committee who worked so hard developing this year’s convention program. The 2020 Diocesan Delegate’s Meeting held during the convention per the bylaws is also cancelled. Among agenda items for this meeting were the election of a new slate of board officers and directors as well as ratification of a by- law change. These are now postponed until the next DD’s meeting which will be held at the 2021 Convention in Mi- ami. After consultation with Poul Lemasters, Esq., the by- laws permit the retention of the existing board of directors and officers until their successors are elected.
