Founded in 1939, PIMS continues its legacy in being one of the oldest, largest, and most reputable private mortuary programs in the country. The 80th anniversary gala is planned for Saturday, September 7 at the school. Activities are planned from 12 noon through 6:00 pm which include an open house; Pittsburgh Popcorn Bar and Snacks; Lucky Draw Raffle and 50/50; Face Painting and Funerary and Anatomical “oddities” with Trundle Manor. As well, there will be a silent auction and numerous prizes. At 3:00 pm, there will be a screening of the movie Getting Grace. The highlight of the gala will be their guest, celebrity actor, producer and star of the movie “Getting Grace.” Daniel Roebuck is an American character actor of television, film, and theatre. Roebuck is best known for his roles in Deputy Marshal Robert Biggs in The Fugitive and its spinoff film Unit- ed States Marshals, Jay Leno in The Late Shift, and Dr. Leslie Arzt in Lost, as well as numerous Rob Zombie and Don Coscarelli films. He is also best known for his role as Cliff Lewis, Ben Matlock’s private investigator on Mat- lock from 1992 until 1995. Roebuck will be on-hand to present the movie and for autographs and photo ops. Dr. Alan Wolfelt Creates New Training on Parental Bereavement FORT COLLINS,CO— The Center for Loss and Life Transition an- nounces two upcoming training sessions for caregivers on parental bereavement, scheduled May 4-7, 2020 in Fort Collins, CO and Janu- ary 11-14, 2021 in Scottsdale, AZ. Entitled “Companioning Bereaved Parents,” the four-day trainings, facilitated by educator Dr. Alan Wolfelt, will enhance caregivers’ capacity to artfully “companion” bereaved parents. The purpose of this training is to educate caregiv- ers on the unique features of pa- rental grief and the attachment in- fluences on the parent-child bond. This training will explore the ap- plication of Dr. Wolfelt’s tenets of “companioning,” how to apply his six central needs of mourning in the helping process, and give dis- tinct consideration to the special features of miscarriage, stillbirth, infant death, teen death, and the death of an adult child. Included in the training materials are The Handbook for Companioning the Mourner and Healing a Parent’s Grieving Heart, both written by Dr. Wolfelt. Author, educator, and grief counselor Dr. Alan Wolfelt serves as director of the Center for Loss and Life Transition in Fort Col- lins, CO. A past recipient of the Association for Death Education and Counseling’s Death Educa- tor Award, he also serves on the faculty at the University of Colo- rado Medical School in the De- partment of Family Medicine. He is the author of numerous books on grief and loss including Under- standing Your Grief and Grief One Day at a Time and is often consult- ed by popular media sources on a variety of grief related topics.
