With their continued growth, Michelle Smith was brought on as a full-time senior ac- countant to assist with the financial side of the business. “Looking back 20 years, it’s absolutely incredible to see Rollings Funeral Service 20 Years Continued from Page A22 how far we’ve come as an organization. From a small team working out of my home, we’ve grown into a leadership body of 12 with 70 of the most well- respected funeral homes from Connecticut all the way down to Georgia and all the way out to Nebras- ka,” said Greg Rollings, president and CEO of Rollings Funeral Service. “I work alongside some the most fantastic people in fu- neral service and this com- pany wouldn’t be where it is 20 years later if it weren’t for all of them,” Rollings continued. From 1999 to 2001, Rollings served as the pres- ident of Meridian Mortu- ary Group, a venture cap- ital backed funeral home operating company. Want- ing to form his own com- pany that was run on fam- ily values, not responsible to shareholders, and was purely focused on helping funeral home owners con- tinue their legacy, Rollings left Meridian Mortuary Group and founded Roll- ings Funeral Service with his wife, Debbie. Speaking with one of their first acquisitions in 2002, Fred Clark III, cur- rent manager and former owner of Clark Funeral Home in Hawkinsville, GA, mentioned “Work- ing with Rollings Funer- al Service for the past 20 years has been like work- ing with one large fam- ily. We’ve formed many friendships throughout the company over the years.” Speaking with one of their newer acquisitions in 2021, Mark Shea, cur- rent manager and former owner of Shea Family Fu- neral Homes in Vermont said “My wife Lisa and I want to congratulate Roll- ings on their 20 years of service. We’ve been a part of Rollings for a year and feel just as good about the de- cision now as we did then.” After 20 years, Rollings Funeral Service is continuing to meet funeral home owners that want to join a family- owned company. They find many owners want to contin- ue the family ownership and with Rollings Funeral Ser- vice that is exactly what happens. The company continues to be 100 percent owned by Greg and Debbie Rollings and aren’t venture backed or publicly held. “Large enough to serve, small enough to care,” says Rollings.
